Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner Level
We will be discovering the USA by identifying and exploring the states one by one. This is an ongoing class covering one state a week until all fifty states as well as the District of Columbia (Washington, DC) have been covered. Since the class is circular, students can drop in at any point and continue until they have learned all 50 states.

All learners will be expected to participate in class. I will be calling their names and asking them questions. I am open to making any needed accommodations to help your student thrive in class. Please let me know their needs.

Each lesson will follow the same format. We will start with a fun warm-up question, review behavioral expectations, trace the shape of this week's state, and watch a short video about it. Students will learn fun facts including the state's population, motto, animals, trees, flag etc. A fun review game using NearPod will roundout our learning if there is time.

We will learn the states in this order:

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am eager to have your learner join the students from 5-50 to whom I have taught English and American culture. Although my original BA is in Psychology, I have taught at three different universities abroad. I love students and I love to help them learn. I am eager to help North American students get a worldwide perspective drawing from my own experiences as a reader and a traveler.
