In this one hour class, we will take a look at the life and amazing career of Nellie Bly. The first 30-40 minutes of the class will consist of a powerpoint presentation that will include a detailed look at her childhood, the beginning of her career in journalism, her stay in the of Women's Lunatic Asylum, her trip around the world, and her inventions. We will examine the impact she had on investigative journalism. The last 10-15 minutes of class will be an open discussion of what we have learned and answer any questions that the students may have.

There may be some Youtube videos that are seen during this class. I will share my screen and learners will not need to access them on their own.
Nellie Bly is best known for her 10 day stay in a New York City asylum. There will be some discussions of mental healthcare in the 1800's and how it has changed since then. All discussions will be at an age appropriate level.
