In this class, students will learn about the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. We will examine the origin of each of the wonders, as well as the civilization that built it, where it was located, its purpose, and what has happened to it throughout history. We will discuss the evidence that they structures actually existed whether that evidence is from historical accounts or actual artifacts unearthed to show the validity of the wonder and its existence. This class will be set up as a lecture/discussion using historical text, illustration, and videos. Student are encouraged to be prepare to participate in discussion on a daily basis. Student will be given a small amount of outside reading for the next weeks class to help facilitate discussion during the upcoming class. This outside reading will be limited to 20-30 minutes of reading total. This class will be broken into 7 weeks with the following schedule: Week 1: The Great Pyramid at Giza - The only of the 7 Ancient Wonders that is still in existence. Week 2: The Hanging Gardens of Babylon Week 3: The Colossus of Rhodes Week 4: Lighthouse at Alexandria Week 5: Mausoleum at Halicarnassus Week 6: Statue of Zeus at Olympia Week 7: Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

I have my BA in Social Studies Education, and 3 years teaching social studies classes at various middle school & high school levels. Additionally, I have a huge passion for Ancient History, Archaeology, and Exploration which helps me fuel my drive to pass on knowledge and an appreciation of these topics to students.
