1-2 hours per week. Each week there will be a suggested drawing activity to do at home. This is not compulsory but the a students are welcome to share their homework for constructive feedback from the teacher if they so wish.Class Experience
In this class we will sketch and draw our way through a huge variety of techniques that are fundamental to mastering the skill of drawing. As well as covering the modules below, we will also learn how to master the use of paper, pencils, colouring pencils and the eraser when drawing and sketching. This class covers 9 core modules and totals 34 weeks of new techniques: 1. Line (6 weeks) 2. Shape (3 weeks) 3. Black and White Shading Techniques (3 weeks) 4. Texture (3 weeks) 5. Color (7 weeks) 6. Space (3 weeks) 7. Form (2 weeks) 8. Perspective (3 weeks) 9. Value (3 weeks) The class will begin with a short slide presentation about the technique we will be learning, and a reference picture will be shown. The teacher will then demonstrate the technique and the students follow along. At the end of the class, students have the opportunity to share their drawings and receive kind and constructive feedback on how they could improve. What the students finish with is a beautiful and creative book that will showcase their learning journey, and is something that can be treasured for many years. FORMAT Even though this class has modules it does not build upon each other. Each week is standalone and students can join any week without feeling they have missed out on anything covered previously. INCLUSIVITY This is an inclusive class, meaning students of all abilities are welcome. If a student is unable to communicate verbally they are welcome to use the chat. If your student has any other needs that require accommodations please let me know and we will work together to make sure your student gets the best class experience possible.
Learning Goals
Students will learn a comprehensive set of techniques under the following modules: Line and Pattern, Shape & Direction, Black & White Shading, Texture, Color, Space, Form, Perspective.
They will also learn how to use the materials used in drawing and sketching. (pencils, coloring pencils, paper, eraser)
