In this one-time class, students will learn the 10 signs of a healthy and an unhealthy relationship, to feel more empowered, safer, and wise, with all relationships of all kinds.

Class experience

For this introductory class, we will focus on 3 of the 7 One Love Foundation Learning Objectives:

- Know the signs and spot the signs of an unhealthy relationship.
- Learn how to engage in conversations about healthy and unhealthy relationships.
- Know where to access resources when in need about unhealthy relationships.

I am a qualified High School Teacher and a previous curriculum leader for Healthy Relationships education. I am now a certified One Love facilitator, working in partnership with the Foundation to bring their resources to students virtually.

1) A two-page handout from the One Love Foundation is provided for this class, listing the 10 signs of a healthy relationship, and the 10 signs of an unhealthy relationship. This is attached in English, Chinese, and Spanish. A version of this handout is also attached for students who identify as/with LGBTQ+. 2) On recommendation by the One Love Foundation, to further support the students who partake in this class, I will share a list of approved additional resources and helplines, after the class. This is a supportive measure to signpost further help and advice, should any students wish to explore the topic independently. 3) Parents will also be sent a comprehensive guide, developed by the One Love Foundation, to support follow-up conservations.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will refer to resources provided by the One Love Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the relationship health of future generations. The nonprofit organization has educated more than 1.5 million young people through educational workshops, both in-person and online, by teaching them the signs of unhealthy and healthy relationships. One Love was founded in honor of Yeardley Love, a 22-year-old college student whose life was tragically cut short when she was killed by her ex-boyfriend. During the trial, her family realized that her death could have been prevented had those in her life recognized the signs of an abusive relationship.

1) For parents of students that attend this class, a comprehensive guide to supporting follow-up conversations about this important topic, developed by the One Love Foundation, will be emailed to you from me via the Outschool platform. For more information, visit www.joinonelove.org.

2) On recommendation by the One Love Foundation, and to further support the students who partake, I will share a list of approved additional resources and helplines, after the class with students. This is a supportive measure to signpost further help and advice, should any students wish to explore the topic independently. Students and parents will also have access to a document, that I have uploaded to the classroom, detailing the evidence-based research and integrated theory that makes One Love Foundation materials both informed and credible.

3) Parents will also be sent a comprehensive guide, developed by the One Love Foundation, to support follow-up conservations.

4) Class Disclaimer: This class is a broad introduction to the 10 signs of a healthy and unhealthy relationship. It will not be diagnostic or therapeutic. Students are reminded not to share private information. Additionally, any child protection or safeguarding concerns that are detected within the class will be referred to the Outschool team, per the Outschool safety policy.
