Let's dance, practice being grateful, and say THANK YOU! As the fall season comes to an end and American Thanksgiving approaches, it is important to reflect on the great things we have, especially amidst an unprecedented year. Gratitude for the things we already have helps us stay positive and remember what is important. What is important to you? A family member, a friend, the gift of a body to dance, food on the table, a home, the opportunity for education, the ability to read & learn,...
Learners will building their skills in balance, strength, dexterity, and muscle training. We will begin each class with a warm up that helps build technique and guides students to gain flexibility. We will perform ballet and jazz exercises. We will introduce movements in the center floor including kicks, turns, leaps, and jumps. Students will also practice their presentation skills as they speak with their classmates and how to be more thankful in their everyday lives.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students are more than welcome to dress up for class, as long as clothing is loosely fitted and does not have anything a child could trip over. Although ballet shoes are not required, it would be great if they could use them in class. If possible, please provide a chair or something sturdy at an appropriate length for the height of your child for balancing. Please make sure your child takes the class in an open area where they will not accidentally kick something or put themselves in danger. Ideally, the space would not be slippery, but if it is a slippery surface, it is recommended to use non-stick socks or shoes. Parents and guardians should remain nearby to assist and prevent accidents. Having a water bottle nearby is ideal. If class is taken during warmer months, it is ideal to have an air conditioner or fan running to prevent overheating.
