Students will be taught through a series of mini-lessons including modeling and interactive annotations how to break down those tricky texts that seem impossible to understand. Students will receive a guide to help with the process as I model using an example text. Then, we will work on another text together. Students will finally be asked to analyze a third text individually. All steps will encourage questioning and interaction!
Learning Goals
Students will gain critical knowledge of how to analyze a text effectively through the use of pacing, chunking, and annotating.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Having been raised in a family of teachers, I have always been passionate about both learning and educating. I firmly believe that relationship and education need to be intertwined in order for lifelong learners to be created and that all children should be taught from this premise.
In high school and college, I worked as a tutor in elementary reading and math as well as high school Spanish, history, and English. I graduated summa cum laude from East Carolina University with a double major in Secondary Education and English Literature. The fall after graduating, I was hired as a high school English teacher and have worked at the same school for six years. During my years there, I have been awarded as a "Key Beginning Teacher" and have served on multiple committees for school improvement.
Apart from that brief resume, I also love reading, writing poetry, swimming, cooking, and breaking out into Broadway musical numbers on a consistent basis. Yes, I am that awesome.
