Do you have a bright learner who sometimes struggles to show what they know on tests? Whether it be testing anxiety or simply not knowing where to start, knowing how to locate information in order to perform your best on a test is a learned skill. In this club, students will practice test-taking strategies to help improve their performance on reading comprehension assessments. In addition to test-taking practice, students will have the opportunity to practice their reading fluency as well. This content will be taught in a live group setting with opportunities for individual practice in addition to group discussions. Students should come ready to learn and gain confidence with their test-taking abilities! This club will follow a 4-week rotation and topics will cycle back to week 1 after the conclusion of week 4. Hello learners!
My name is Danielle Nesgoda. I am a certified teacher who has been in the classroom since 2017. I am a Special Education Teacher at the elementary school I teach at, which has offered me unique experiences in modifying and adapting state standards so that all types of learners are successful. The population that I teach are students who are still expected to excel within the general education curriculum and are expected to pass standardized tests.
In addition to teaching full-time, I have also served as a private and small group tutor after school. In my years of teaching and tutoring, I have taught students in Kindergarten through 12th grade in Math and Reading. I have experience with all learners including ESL, advanced academic, and students with special needs. My colorful teaching background has provided me with a strong foundation for helping to reach struggling learners.
My classes offer a safe space for learners to try new things and take risks. My philosophy stems from the understanding that math can be found in any part of our daily lives and it's important that we utilize each individual's prior knowledge in order to build connections and develop a more meaningful understanding of math. I enjoy integrating online applications such as Nearpod and Kahoot to encourage interaction and active participation.
I look forward to working with you!
Mrs. Nesgoda
