Class Experience

" దేశ భాషలందు తెలుగు లెస్స ! " quoted by the great Indian king Sri Krishna Devaraya which means Telugu is the beautiful language of all Indian languages. It is one of the six designated classical languages of India. Telugu ranks third by the number of native speakers in India (74 million), thirteenth in the Ethnologic list of most-spoken languages worldwide and is the most widely spoken Dravidian language.

I always feel proud about speaking Telugu language as my mother tongue. Being a fluent and native speaker I have come up with this class to help children to understand and converse in Telugu. The main objective of this class is to ensure that the kids develop interest towards their mother tongue and continue to put their efforts to learn the language.

The class emphasis on practice for listening comprehension. The listening skill is incorporated through narrating interesting stories, asking questions, roleplays and other fun activities. Next to listening speaking is an important skill that boost confidence in the students to use the language. This skill also enhances the student to develop the taste for the language. Discussions after a content based lesson, conversation with the teacher and co - students in a group class, activities like story completion and through many other activities the speaking skill of the student are developed in the class.

The pronunciation of the student is corrected wherever necessary and the class is focused towards improving and increasing the Telugu vocabulary of the student. Each class starts with saying "Namaskaram" then ask questions like "how are you doing?", discuss about weather, say names of the days of the week and counting numbers .Later we discuss about the topic that we have for that day, kids get to share their ideas and their understanding about the topic. We end the class by saying "Malli Kaluddhaamu"
Below are some of the topics that we will be conversing and practicing in the class:
> About me and my family
> Relations
> Body Parts
> Seasons
> Food
> Favorite hobby
> Emotions
> Festivals
> Animals
> Vegetables and fruits
> Transportation and more..
Apart from the above mentioned topics, the class gives a great opportunity for the kids to listen and speak about various things around us , activities that we do and things we use in our day to day life. We also include conversations about real life situations like asking somebody to come inside our home , sit down, greeting grand parents, conveying wishes for the special festive days, a telephone conversation etc.

I believe in that, every student has the right to get the opportunity to learn, every child is unique and their learning needs are different from each other. I focus on children with learning difficulties in my class, identify their unique skills and gaps, guide/coach them to excel in their academics. I also make sure children with highly capable learning abilities get the required enrichment activities.
If I am not teaching, I am busy exploring my cooking skills, gardening, playing with my two young kids. I also like to bike with my family in summers.
All my classes are fun-filled and activity oriented. Kids learn concepts without missing fun. Hope to be a part of your child's cognitive development !
