Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
In this lesson, learners will be engaged in an interactive lesson that teaches time to the hour in both analog clocks and digital clocks. Learners will also be exposed to the different parts of a clock, how they work and new math vocabulary, and practice writing time using the following formats: 12:00 and 12 o'clock.
We will go over the clock face, the minute hand, and the hour hand, how they move on an analog clock, and input the numbers on the analog clock.
Learners will get an opportunity to manipulate their own clock since I will send parents an attachment or they can simply use a clock they have at home.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of telling and writing time to the hour using analog and digital clocks by learning where the numbers on the analog go and they will differentiate the hour and and the minute hand.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and thank you for stopping by.

My name is Nicole Brower. I have been teaching full time for 17 years as an elementary school teacher. I am certified for K-8 but my heart has always been in elementary grades (k-2).

I specialize in teaching young learners various reading strategies that focus on reading fluency, reading comprehension as well as getting young mathematicians excited for math.

Throughout my years of teaching, I have collaborated in revising the English Language Arts Curriculum for our very large school district.

I have taught first and second-grade students as well as tutoring English online to students living in China for the past year and a half.

I equip students with strategies to become independent learners as well as enjoy learning.

As a teacher for 17 years and as a mom, I understand that every student is unique and learns in many different ways, but I know all students can and want to learn - I feel It is my responsibility to ensure that happens.

Education and developing young minds is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding jobs a person can have in my opinion. I believe in fun and engaging learning so much. I have also co-created an educational YouTube Channel where my two young daughters are a part of this process as well.
