In this class students will identify numbers on a clock face and learn how to read a analog clock to the hour, 15, 30, and 45 minutes. This class will be interactive and students are encouraged to have a clock to practice on.

Class experience

US Grade 2
Students will learn how to tell time on a analog clock for the hour , 30 minute, 15 minute, and 45 minute spots on the clock. This skill is essential for students to be able to tell time in a variety of situations in their life.
I have been homeschooling for 20+ years, so I am comfortable teaching young kids math and language art skills needed in the early grades. I also have been teaching online for 3 yrs so I have experience with distance learning.
Homework Offered
Practice is encouraged after class so students are able to retain material learned. Having an analog clock in your house is the best way for students to practice telling time on this clock in real time.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be given the opportunity to show their knowledge of the skills in class by drawing hands on the clock.
Grades Offered
 1 file available upon enrollment
A print out of a blank clock will be provided to print out if students want to practice with paper and pencil. If you print out the clock, it is helpful to put the paper in a plastic sleeve and then give your student a dry erase marker to practice drawing hands on the clock. But if you have a toy clock than you can move the hands on, you can use that as well. Parents are encouraged to sit with their students and help as needed. In this class students will be learning to identify each number on a analog and digital clock, the hour hand, the minute hand, and how to tell time for each hour, half past, quarter past, and three quarters past. It is helpful if students know how to count by 5's, but not required. We will practice this some in class. This class will be hands on and students are required to have a clock they can practice on. The teacher will provide a link to a print out of empty clocks they can practice on if desired. Students will be either using a toy clock they can move the hands on, (which is preferred if you have one), or the print out provided by the teacher to practice drawing the hands on the clock. If you print out the sample clock, it is helpful if you can print out several copies, or put the print out in a plastic cover, and give your student a dry erase marker. This will allow them to erase and draw the hands on the clock multiple times, we will be practice this multiple times in class. Parents are encouraged to sit with their children to help as needed. At the end of each class, we will play an interactive game on the website nearpod.com. It is best if the student has an alternate device from the one they are in the outschool classroom on, open a browser, and load this website. I will provide the code in class. and it will be at the end of class. Let me know if you have any questions.
