Description

Class Experience

Students will review their basic letter names and sounds, and numbers. They will identify, write, and draw them. They will also have a better understanding of their world around them and how everything works and relates to each other. They will practice spelling and writing their name, line tracing, scissor cutting, how to rhyme, retell stories, and make predictions. Learners will complete art work and sing songs.
There aren't any sensitive topics covered in this ongoing class.
I have been a kindergarten teacher for 5 years and now am an online and in person preschool teacher with my own company for the past year. I have an AS, BS, and Masters Degree in Elementary Special Education. I have also taught missionary children of this age and Sunday School classes at this level. I am fluent in speaking, writing, and reading in Spanish. I took 5 years of Spanish in high school and also lived in Chile and the Dominican Republic for a total of 6 years. My husband is a native Spanish speaker and I often speak with him at home.
No homework.
Child can reuse some activities multiple times.
Please have these in a storage box, basket, or plastic drawer container for easy access. You may need all of these if you take all of the classes or just some if you take a couple classes. I will let you know ahead of time in messages, which items you need for which classes. Post-its (or just paper & tape) Paper plates, Ziploc bags Chalk/chalkboard(or blacktop driveway or sidewalk) Watering can or spray bottle (or bucket and cup of water) Page protector/ dry erase board, dry erase marker Bottle caps (orange juice, Gatorade, oil, etc.) Small pom poms or cotton balls Playing cards Paper towel and toilet paper rolls, paper towels, Q-tips Masking tape & regular tape Paint, clothespins optional Matchbox cars or similar small toy Construction paper Whisk and spatula/bug swatter, pots & pans Play-Doh Flour and food coloring pencils, crayons, markers, paper (*Please note: You will have most of these supplies at home. Activities are flexible and you can substitute with supplies you already have. Example: No Pom Poms? Use cotton balls instead. Flour and food coloring Also, please print out the templates and worksheets I send to you.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
informal
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I am a fun, interactive teacher who likes to use lots of props, materials, digital activities, worksheets, crafts, songs, movement, different voices and expressions. I have a happy, bubbly personality with lots of smiles and laughter to give. We will try to move as much as possible, so make sure there is some space around the learning area.
Play-doh may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease. Please also be aware, you may need to supervise scissor cutting.
The lessons come from 2 Motivated Moms curriculum and don't build upon each other. I sometimes use my own google slides and powerpoints based on our lessons that I made, but it is usually just me showing the children how to put their crafts together or how to do the activity. I may also include a song or two on Youtube from Jack Hartman or Jean Feldman. Our games and singing songs include moving around the room sometimes and jumping up and down.
You do not need to log into anything except for our class.
We will be using parts of the 2 Motivated Moms curriculum and Fundamentals Curriculum by Joy Anderson with permission. www.2motivatedmoms.com
We also will be using songs from Dr. Jean Feldman and Jack Hartman with permission. drjean@drjean.org, drjeanandfriends.blogspot.com
I use my own Google slides and Powerpoints that I created based on the lesson plans. Like the Hello Song, Letters...
