Description

Class Experience

Students will learn the critical differences between self defense, martial arts and fighting, they will have a greater understanding of the importance of awareness and intuition in relation to prevention. Kids will have a greater sense of safety simply by having the knowledge of awareness and how to listen to their gut instincts to keep them safe.
We have a combined 30 years of experience in teaching self defense and violence prevention to kids and teens across the world, including public and private schools, afterschool programs, private sessions, camps and workshops. We are educated and trained in trauma sensitive and trauma informed teaching approaches.
Students are encouraged to watch the recording after class with their adults and discuss their thoughts and feelings about what was presented, and think of examples of when their gut instinct kicked in to help them avoid potentially dangerous or uncomfortable situations.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be no assessments in this introductory class.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Because we are discussing violence prevention and self-defense, we recommend parents/adults be within earshot of the student and to offer support to discuss the subject matter afterwards. Sometimes questions can come up after our lessons once the information has had a chance to be absorbed. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions your child may have, there is no such thing as a stupid question. Most questions are very common and ones we hear often!
