Instructor Led Teens ages 13-18 years old will be able to fellowship as well as pair up in groups for games. All levels are encouraged to join. No previous experience needed. Each week will offer different lessons on effective ways to use communication. The class will begin with a short introduction on public speaking skills. I will help students develop a short PowerPoint about the subject of their choosing. I will send links via classroom message board for students to use for aids. Week 1: Instructor Led Topic: Ice Breakers Theme: Classmate Introductions with Improv I introduce myself to the class. I will have the class interact by asking each other questions about one another. Students will do a collaborative story together through improv style storytelling, based on a topic that I give them. The story will allow each student to share their own ideas and perspectives all while learning how to improve their communication with peers. Week 2: Guided by Instructor Topic: Group/Team-building Theme: Practicing Public Speaking Games The class will be split into groups and will play a board game, Taboo, provided by the teacher. I will moderate by helping the class facilitate the questions. Week 3: Guided by Instructor Topic: PowerPoint presentation development Theme: Development of effective communication. Team-building I will introduce effective ways to begin creating an effective PowerPoint. Students will pick a theme for their own PowerPoint. I will pair students together via breakout rooms with a classmate to begin working on their own PowerPoint in class. In week three of class students will begin learning how to build a PowerPoint. Optional: Each student will be asked to submit a short video presentation 1-3 minutes after class via the classroom board. Week 4: Guided by Instructor Topic: Teacher Guided PowerPoint presentation: Theme: Effective methods to deliver a great PowerPoint I will share my screen with the class and complete a PowerPoint presentation. Students will be asked to practice/model points I made during my PowerPoint during class. Each week I will moderate the flow of class while allowing students the opportunity to take a charge of leading the classroom from week to week.
Learning Goals
Learn how to develop speeches, PowerPoint presentation and how to deliver powerful public speaking. In each weekly class I will give quick and easy tips on how to use visual aids and props, incorporate body language into their presentations, and more.
This class is aimed at developing a better understanding of how group communication works. With time and practice, you are sure to see improvements in your ability to communicate and an increase in your confidence as well.

Parental Guidance
Parents are encouraged to practice with the student to help with any the student research.
Supply List
Each student will need writing tablet for note taking. This class requires writing utensils pen and pencil.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
