Description

Class Experience

Each class will build upon each other.  If your learner has experience that is great but each learner will start with the basic punches and kicks. Has each class progresses the learner will feel comfortable moving a while punching and kicking at the same time.   
Week One:  Front punch, reverse punch, hooks and upper cuts. Followed by knee and front kick
Week Two: Review week one and include more hand and foot speed. The round house kick will be added with movement skills.
Week Three: Both week one and two will be reviewed and the side kick will be added.  Also body conditioning and cardio will increase 
                     each week.
Week Four: All weeks will be reviewed. New punches/strikes, blocking and back kick will be added to the learners skill set.  
Week Five: All weeks will be reviewed with combinations and more movement added.  Techniques will be refined and each learner will 
                   have better body awareness.
Week Six:  All weeks will be reviewed and double kicks will be added. Hand speed drills and punch combinations with be added.  

After six weeks the learner will be able to understand how to protect ones self while kicking, punching and be able to block with both legs and arms. They can continue for an other six weeks to a private sessions or intermediate levels training.     
I earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I have studied a mixture of martial arts style over the last 20 years. I competed in martial arts for 10 years and ran the martial art club in college.  I have been teaching kids martial arts since the age of 16 years old. I achieved a Masters degree in Exercise Science. I own wellness business called BodyXpress Wellness Solutions. Presently, I work as personal trainer, kickboxing/self-defense instructor and nutrition coach.  
I highly encourage the learner to re watch the video of the class to practice once or twice a week if possible. The more practice the learner has they will advance faster in the class.  I am all about teaching the learners proper skills while offering a fun safe workout. The more proper practice one has the better they will achieve the skills at hand.     
Just bring water bottle, towel and smile to have fun.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parent supervision is required to make sure the learner is in a safe environment. 
Requirements for class: 
The learner should have at least a 6 foot object free clear circular workout space. A safe movement area is very important to prevent injury. The learner can be barefoot or wear socks if on a soft carpeted floor. If the learner is on a hard floor it is required the learner be wearing lightweight sneakers that are comfortable and supportive to protect their feet.  A water bottle should be available for the learner to stay hydrated before, during and after the workout. A hand towel should be available to be used to wipe sweat from the body. 

It is advised that the learner eat a light healthy snack (Example. half a bagel with almond butter) an hour before the class to make sure that they have an adequate amount of fuel to exercise without developing low blood sugar.  

Light movement and stretching beforehand is suggested but the class will start off with 5 minutes of dynamic stretching. 

Safety Note:
Injuries can occur during the class and safety is my top priority. Learners will be taught on how to move safely during the exercise kickboxing class. Kickboxing is a form of self-defense but should only to be used in a life threating situation. Good behavior in class and outside of class is a must to prevent injuries to ones-self and others. I will advise learners that parental supervision is required if they want to practice the kickboxing skills outside of class.

 I strictly prohibit the kickboxing to be used on anyone else in the home. Kickboxing is to be used only in serious situations. (Example: kidnapping situations) The class will be a great learning experience for your learner. Also a excellent way to reduce stress while at home in between the other coursework.  I will encourage the learners that having good grades in school is very important.
