Class Experience

This class provides an opportunity for teen girls to meet and have some social interaction as they connect with other students from varying backgrounds.

Every week will have a discussion topic to get things started. In addition, each student will have an opportunity to share how their week is going, and if they have done anything fun or discovered any new hobbies!

Having time to interact with peers and chat about life can be an important aspect of self care that is often overlooked. Disconnecting from social media and expressing yourself and feeling heard and understood in real time is an immediate mood lifter.
This is a place to laugh, learn, and be yourself!
Learning Goals
Students will have an opportunity to make friends and discuss their hobbies and interests. This will help strengthen communication skills as well as giving students a boost in confidence as they are able to talk about their own goals, achievements, and feelings.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in English from Emerson College
I am a Massachusetts native, and travel between the USA and the UK. I have a BFA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing, and a minor in Journalism, both from Emerson College in Boston, MA.

Coming from a family of teachers, I have worked with children and teens almost my entire life, including as a daycare worker, babysitter, tutor, and as a kindergarten volunteer assistant teacher. I was also the co facilitator of the Young Critics Program at Glasgow Women’s Library, where I mentored young women in order to help them gain confidence in their writing and reviewing abilities.

I love writing, reading, singing, traveling, and cooking. I'm often found in the park walking with my (little) dog, Moose.

Writing is my main passion, and when I was in high school I had a creative writing teacher who changed the course of my life. He truly believed in us, he encouraged us, and he showed us that writing is full of possibilities!

Having support and feedback like that from a teacher (and your peers) has an incredible effect on confidence. It allows you to comfortably take chances and have fun with your writing, which in turn helps you grow into the writer you are meant to be. There are so many amazing stories inside all of us, just waiting to be explored!
