Class experience
Being a teenager is HARD! It has always been hard, but these days it is especially hard. There is judgement, shame, isolation and exposure in every direction. The realities - both positive and negative - of social media are extreme. This social club will start as a one time class and will allow students to share their strengths, tricks to survive, motivations etc., in a safe and informal environment. I have an educational background in both social and development psychology, as this was my focus before switching to become a teacher at the primary level.
This class may naturally touch on real topics that teens are going through - I will be gentle and respectful of the speaker, but then redirect to a more "general" conversation on the issue rather than specifics. The goal of this class is not to be a therapy session, but rather speak of teenage realities in a general way.
