45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this relaxed and casual class, learners will spend time getting to know new friends by chatting, socializing, and using their communication skills. Learners may come to class to discuss topics ranging from their day (good or bad), concerns, questions, school, crushes, friends, or anything else on their mind. Each learner will have time to talk and will be encouraged to also be a good listener/supporter of their new friends. Some subjects may be sad or intense and should be confidential at all times. If there is any concern where I feel the parents/guardians must know, I will privately message them myself. Learners may be from many places around the world, so subjects may be more comfortable to some than others. If the learner is shy or uncomfortable, please let me know so that we can make sure to address it in a kind manner. Some things we may discuss include: (I am also always open to suggestions for new topics from both learners and parents). Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Science from Methodist College of Nursing
Welcome! My name is Maggie Carnegie. I'm
I live in Illinois and have one 20-year-old daughter. I have a bachelor's degree in Nursing and Health Sciences from Methodist College of Nursing. Over the past several years, I have developed a passion for more life-based learning as I homeschooled/unschooled my daughter from 6th grade to 12th grade. For three years, I also very much enjoyed teaching ESL to children overseas. I have found much joy in teaching English using a more play-based approach.
My classes will be engaging, inclusive, and allow every student to feel confident and important in their learning experience.
I offer a variety of classes as I enjoy finding new ways to be creative and continuing to expand on more subjects of interest. I love teaching and making learning meaningful and engaging for every student. I have experience working with a wide range of students in terms of ages.
I am excited to see your child in my classroom and get to know them better.
I hope our time together will spark their creativity and confidence.
