Does your teen seem to be always anxious and always down on themselves? Does your tween/teen have unreliable friends that don't uplift them? When we know our self-worth and can be truly mindful in the present moment, we can build strong and meaningful relationships with others, which in turn reduces a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety. That support group of good friends and inner peace will transform your anxious and stressed tween/teen into the self-confident human that they were meant to be. So what does this have to do with yoga? Yoga is so much more than just an exercise but rather a union of the mind, body, and spirit. This class will introduce your teen to key tools that they can use on a daily or weekly basis to help reduce their self-doubt and anxiety. My class allows your teen to take time for themselves. To connect with their mind and body. To nurture their true selves and realize the beauty that lies within them. When we have self-confidence and self-compassion, we can build strong and nurturing friendships. This is a slow mindful yoga class that helps your teen deal with stress and anxiety. This is not fast-paced yoga but rather a slow yoga with pauses throughout the class to reflect on the poses. The pause and reflection are just as important as the pose as it gives our body and mind connection and improves our self-awareness and mindfulness. We will begin each week with a short discussion and set an intention for our yoga practice. Intentions are powerful statements that help us our manifestation power, mental clarity, and focus. They help with our overall state of mind and perspective. I encourage my yogi students to use this intention throughout the week. We will progress into a warm-up, a slow mindful practice with pauses to reflect on our body, and finish with a meditation (savasana). Finishing up with a guided meditation to help them to train their mind to stay focused in the present moment. Meditation is not about stopping our thoughts but rather focusing our thoughts on the present, such as our breath. This is class will set your teen on a journey of being mindful, self-aware, and self-compassionate. Each of these will help your teen to find who they truly should be. When we are ourselves (rather than the version we think we should be) we can make connections with the right friends, the friends that uplift us, make us feel safe and there for us when we need them. As with all my classes, this class is a safe place to learn about slow mindful yoga. There are no judgments and no experience is needed. Yoga is a personal journey, and I am here to help you on that journey.

Supply List
Please also note: yoga is a physical activity and injuries can occur if students aren't supervised Please have water available and loose clothing for movement. Students should have a yoga mat or a towel for class. If you are using a towel please make sure it is not on a slippery surface. Bare feet is preferable as it allows for a better grip. But if you would like to wear socks please make sure they are yoga style socks with grip points on the sole. A yoga block can be useful in some classes as it helps with proper alignment. If you don't have a yoga block don't worry - a stack of books wrapped in a towel may do just fine. Also, a yoga strap is useful but again no need for anything fancy a belt or scarf will work.
