In Teen Conversation Club, your teen practices how to start, maintain, and end a conversation. You should notice your teen's conversation improve with each week of conversation.

Class experience

Students will learn about a variety of topics as we discuss a different topic each week. Students will also learn to be effective communicators and practice patience while others are speaking. In addition, as a teacher and career coach, I will also offer practical tips and strategies when appropriate.
I am a teacher and Toastmaster. As an Area Director in Toastmasters, I recognize the importance of practicing speaking. I routinely watch people enter Toastmasters with no confidence and terrified to speak. After participating in our weekly meetings, they become so comfortable and confident that within several months, they are confidently entering speaking contests. Practicing in a safe place with encouragement is the key.
The strength of this class is that it is an ongoing class. Conversation skills are not built overnight. They come with practice much the same as any other skill. It is important that your child attends these classes regularly in order to obtain the benefit. I have seen shy kids who could barely mumble a few words in the first few meetings become very talkative in the later meetings. Please try to ensure your child is available to participate in as many meetings as possible.

No inappropriate language or topics will be allowed.

1) I am not a therapist. This is simply a fun class for teens to get together and talk about topics that relate to them. This is not a class for children with special needs as I have no training in Special Education and I do not believe that this is one of my strengths; however, if your child has special needs, they are welcome to join us as long as they are able to participate in the manner required for this class.
2) This class will be canceled if there aren't at least three non-related students registered. My policy is that if no other learners have enrolled within 24 hours of the class start time, I will contact the parent of the single enrollee to determine whether or not they want a refund or would prefer to be transferred to another class.
