Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
Our weekly online club is designed to boost teens' confidence, develop resilience, and enhance communication skills through engaging and interactive sessions. We cover topics such as thinking for yourself, self-identity, overcoming self-doubt, effective communication, building resilience, positive thinking, goal-setting, handling peer pressure, and more. Each 55-minute session is structured to include a mix of brief lectures, interactive discussions, group activities, role-playing games, and video clips. The teaching style is dynamic and supportive, and there will be some class sessions that will feel quite different from the next session. Active participation and personal reflection will be encouraged. Learners will have plenty of opportunities to interact with the instructor and peers through open discussions, collaborative projects, and sharing experiences. Join us for a fun and insightful journey to becoming more confident and connected individuals!

Parental Guidance
In our weekly online club, I prioritize creating an open and supportive environment for all participants. As "building resilience" is a key components of this club, I encourage the learners to be curious and open to diverse ideas and thoughts so that they can deal with ideas they don't like or agree with as they increasingly enter the "real world." While discussing topics such as overcoming self-doubt, handling peer pressure, and building resilience, I recognize that some content may be sensitive or triggering for some learners. Open communication is encouraged, but students will not be pressured to participate when they are not open to doing so. Parents are advised to ensure their teens have a quiet, private space for sessions and to be available for support if any discussions come up that have them seeking their support. Please note: This club will NOT be discussing diagnosed medical conditions, trauma, or grief. This is a forward-looking, positive growth mindset club. Please feel free to reach out to me with any concerns or questions, and know that this class will help your teen to build confidence and mental fortitude that will help them thrive as unique and capable individuals as they inch closer and closer to young adulthood.
Pre-Requisites
It is recommended (NOT REQUIRED) that the learner successfully complete one of my 3-week teen classes prior to joining (either the Critical Thinking or Passion & Purpose class). This may help to encourage the right mindset from the start.
Supply List
Learners will sometimes utilize digital worksheets (which may be printed) provided inside the classroom prior to some club sessions. Pen and paper would be helpful as well for note-taking. Learners will be informed ahead of time about session's that require an extra mobile device such as phone or tablet to use the Kahoot! game for that particular session.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I'm an experienced and certified personal/life coach (Master Certified by the Certified Life Coach Institute) with a focus on confidence, creative and critical thinking, gratitude, clarity, intentionality, truth, resilience, and taking action in one's life. I host virtual group coaching sessions for my adult clients that share the essential principles offered in this teen club. I have personal experience inspiring older teens in my life to think clearer and deeper about their life and future (to be more intentional, focused and confident), and have helped them work through their thoughts and ideas in a way that empowers them with newfound confidence. I've also taught separate critical thinking and life purpose classes for teens on Outschool, and have spent time observing and learning from an experienced former public school teacher (current homeschool teacher) of teenagers in order to get an even deeper understanding of the unique learning needs of this age group to offer the most value possible to students.
