Welcome to the Teen Cash Crunch, where students will dive into the fundamentals of budgeting their paycheck. By the end of the program, students will confidently manage their finances with a clear budget in place.

In this engaging eight-week self-paced course, teenagers will delve into the essential skill of budgeting their hard-earned paychecks. Throughout the course, students will discover the significance of budgeting, explore various budgeting techniques, set both short-term and long-term financial goals, and master the SMART method for effective goal-setting. Furthermore, they will grasp the crucial distinction between income and expenses, understand how these elements impact their budget, explore different savings strategies, and learn how to allocate their earnings with precision. By the course's conclusion, your child will have crafted a personalized budget, honed their budget management skills through reflection, and gained the ability to fine-tune their budget for optimal realism. This invaluable course equips young minds with the necessary tools to navigate their financial journey confidently and responsibly.

As a school-based occupational therapist specializing in activity and task analysis, I excel in tailoring learning approaches to suit each student's style, adapting tasks to their needs, and breaking down complex topics like budgeting into manageable steps for efficient learning. Emphasizing the development of planning and organizational skills crucial for budgeting comprehension, I guide students through planning, reflecting on, and revising budgets to ensure practicality. This interactive class incorporates video lessons, worksheets, and Sunday evening office hours from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for real-time feedback and Q&A via messaging.

Learning Goals

By the end of the eight week course, the student will learn to budget their paycheck in order to allocate money for necessities, wants and savings as evidenced by creating their own personal budget.
