This Teen Autism Social Club will meet the needs of our babes on the spectrum to have a safe, fun space to develop friendships as they share their interests. This social club will be very student-driven based on their interests and passions. Similar to a show-and-tell type club for younger students or an unschooling approach, I will ask students to share some of their favorite topics, or parents can provide me a list as well. I will facilitate this social club to encourage back and forth...
**Students will need to use the audio and video. Video and audio are required - chat will only be used briefly for certain activities. We might use another link during Social Club for games, such as Quizlet or skribbl but I will supply the link during Social Club to maintain safety and control.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
**Students will need to use the audio and video. Video and audio are required - chat will only be used briefly for certain activities As we know, with those on the Spectrum, topics can be very random. I always foster a respectful classroom environment. We will not talk about illegal activity, abuse, or anything related to sex education. If a more controversial topic comes up, I will be sure to let all parents know by messaging.
