This is a self-paced, beginner ESL class. There are no live meetings with the teacher. Students will gain English skills through interacting with instructional videos in the self-paced classroom. The teacher has posted five instructional videos in each self-paced unit. Each video will provide an engaging lesson about an English topic. 1. The student will learn to say and understand vocabulary about basic English topics. 2. The student will be able to speak in declarative sentences. 3. The student will be able to ask questions. 4. The student will be able to read the sounds of all English letters. 5. The student will be able to read selected words to practice specific phonics skills. 6. The student will be able to read high frequency words in English by sight. 7. The student will be able to read sentences and reading selections. 8. The student will be able to identify basic grammar structures and use them correctly. 9. The student will be able to speak about the basic math concepts: shapes, addition, subtraction, patterns. 10. The student will be able use songs and poems in English.
The teacher has 20 years of classroom experience on the elementary and middle school level. The teacher has been teaching English online since January of 2020. The teacher is certified in Basic TESOL, Advanced TESOL, TEFL, and TESL.
Homework Offered
Students will complete the lesson assignments after each video in the unit's playlist. The unit assignments are as follows: Assignment 1: After viewing video #1 in the unit's playlist, the students should upload a video clip of themselves answering the questions at the end of video #1. Assignment 2: After viewing video #2 in the unit's playlist, the students should upload a video clip of themselves answering the questions at the end of video #2. Assignment 3: After viewing video #3 in the unit's playlist, the students should upload a video clip of themselves answering the questions at the end of video #3. Assignment 4: After viewing video #4 in the unit's playlist, the students should upload a video clip of themselves answering the questions at the end of video #4. Assignment 5: After viewing video #5 in the unit's playlist, the students should upload a video clip of themselves answering the questions at the end of video #5.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
