Class Experience

In this class, I will help your little learners feel relaxed and involved in our craft and chat session. Our theme this lesson will be bees. We will sing a nursery rhyme, talk a little about where bees live and what role they play in the environment. As we make our simple craft we will talk about the colours yellow and black. I will be wearing yellow and black too! We will look for other things we can see that are yellow and black in our homes. The children will be able to talk about shapes as we do the craft too.

Learning Goals

This class is relaxed. Learning comes through play, especially for little learners. As we play together, this gives great opportunities for developing language, preschool skills and social skills. Social skills are so important, especially as many are experiencing isolation. A time to meet others, relax and play is most welcome.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
I will provide a list of materials below. For older children, you may feel that they can use some scissors to cut out their circle shapes. However, younger learners may need assistance from an adult or the shapes can be cut prior to the lesson or adult supervision will be needed.
Supply List
Yellow craft paper - We will need two circles for the face and body, one slightly smaller than the other. Use a small dish or cup to draw around. Your learner can cut them out before the lesson or during if they are competent with scissors. I will use this opportunity to talk about safety.

Black craft paper - We will need two strips for the stripes.

White or silver paper for the wings. If you are cutting them out before the lesson, then two oval shapes will be fine.

Scissors, if you feel your learner is able to handle these confidently we can cut out the shapes in the lesson. If not, paper can be cut out by an adult before the lesson, or with your little one during the lesson.

Glue stick.

Googly eyes are optional.

Black marker for eyes.

Optional pipe cleaners for antennae.

Popsicle stick or straw to stick our bee on.

Sticky tape to attach bee to popsicle stick.
