Class Experience

In this one time course students will bring their dog or cat to class and teach them how to paint a picture in a fun silly way (obviously a safe way to!) This dog or cat art can get a little messy, but will wash off most surfaces with water if cleaned up right away. It can stain clothes, so I suggest a clothing cover or old clothes.. We will start the class by introducing our dogs or cats to each other. After introductions students will let their dog or cat do their painting. Each student will have a chance to show their dog or cats art at the end of the class. I will encourage students to tell each other what they see, an example of that is in the cover photo I see a dinosaur. Each painting will turn out differently and that's what makes it so fun and unique!

Please note: Your dog or cat will not be touching the paint.

Please see the limited supply list to make sure your student is ready for class!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Students will be using acrylic paint, this is washable off most surfaces if cleaned up right away. It will stain clothes sometimes, so I would recommend them wearing something you don't mind get's paint on it.
Supply List
Canvas of any size (the flat canvases do work better than the stretched 3-d framed canvases) Here is a link showing an example of the ones I recommend. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G7GD6KB?pd_rd_i=B07G7GD6KB&pd_rd_w=sYfcb&pf_rd_p=51cf0d17-50cf-4c89-b1a7-606703cfac11&pd_rd_wg=w9hIP&pf_rd_r=V7A81CF98BVN5E4V8WXV&pd_rd_r=5046777b-2f38-43b9-8e26-54759d92bd0d

Acrylic paints of any color. I recommend using at least 2-3 colors to make it more blended. More colors is perfectly find also

A ziplock bag large enough for your canvas to fit in completely! Students need to be able to seal the ziplock bag with the canvas inside it

Some kind of dog or cat safe soft food- peanut butter, cottage cheese, yogurt, canned dog food (non chunky), canned cat pate, ECT.

Tape- any kind should work, it's mainly to tape your ziplock bag smaller if it's way to big

And of course, they need their artist with them (their dog or cat)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello. I teach a lot of classes about animals and I also teach some reading classes. All of my animal classes are taught about animals that I own.
I love to educate people about animals, animal abuse and neglect. Almost all of my animals come to me as rescues. I like to teach others how to properly care for animals so that the animals can live a long and happy life. Research isn't always reliable as you get different answers in different books and it can be hard to figure out what's best. I am always open to questions. If you are interested in getting a certain pet, just want to learn about different pets or have a pet and want to verify the care is correct, I welcome everyone. I have also trained service dogs and I currently own a trained service dog.
I have taught local classes about the needs of turtles and tortoises, and also community education Sign language classes.
I am a homeschool parent. I have been homeschooling for over 15 years. In our homeschool adventure we use a lot of books and research for learning. We do not use textbooks.
I also have 3 years of college completed. I studied teaching with an emphasis on special education.
