In this 3 part interactive course, students will learn how to utilize the Six Thinking Hats system to develop life skills for making decisions, solving problems, and how to generate creative ideas.

Week 1: Duration - 55 minutes. Topics Covered: What Are The Six Thinking Hats and Why Do We Need Them? (Teacher will provide examples of the purpose for each color hat and what it represents, then pose questions soliciting examples from the students of each hat to make it relevant to them.) Teacher will use graphics and video to add interest and excitement to the lesson. Week 2: Duration - 55 Minutes. Topics Covered: A Video Example of An Exercise that uses the Six Hats System to demonstrate its use. After the video, the teacher will ask students to identify which hat was used and what was the purpose for using that type of thinking. Week 3: Duration - 55 minutes. Topics Covered. Students will generate a real life scenario of one issue that represents a problem they need to solve. (All students will work together on this one issue.) This interactive exercise will take the students through the entire process of using all the hats to provide creative solutions to solve the problem
Learning Goals
Students will learn that a system built around the metaphorical use of colored hats will allow them to solve problems, to think outside the box, and to consider all options when making important decisions. This system can be applied to any life circumstances where creative solutions to problems are necessary.
