Teaching Approach:

This class is designed to be interactive, learner-centered, and supportive, using a combination of project-based learning, guided instruction, and peer collaboration to build confidence and communication skills. I will provide support, modeling, and feedback early on, then gradually shift responsibility to learners. Mistakes are seen as learning opportunities with a focus on effort and progress helps build learners' confidence in public speaking.

While I carefully plan each session to ensure a rich learning experience, I also remain adaptable - allowing learners' energy, ideas, and creativity to shape the flow of the class. I foster a supportive environment where all learners feel comfortable participating at their own pace.

This flexible approach ensures all learners feel comfortable, challenged, and successful.

I look forward to seeing how this class grows and evolves!

Learning Goals

Develop Communication Skills - Organize and present information clearly and effectively to an audience.
Enhance Public Speaking Confidence - Practice speaking in front of a group with clarity, expression, and engagement.

Parental Guidance
To ensure a fun, safe, and respectful learning environment, I have a few guidelines for learner presentations: 1. Appropriate Content - All topics, slides, images, videos, and materials must be classroom-friendly and appropriate for all ages. (Send me a message if you have any questions) 2. Screen Sharing Rules - Learners will only be allowed to share their screen when it's their turn to present. I will disable screen sharing if any inappropriate content appears. 3. Presentation Review - I encourage learners to practice their presentation with a family member and review any materials beforehand. If a learner wants feedback before presenting, they can send me their materials in advance. 4. Respectful Behavior - Everyone should be a kind and supportive audience. No interruptions or negative comments, only constructive feedback. 5. Monitoring & Quick Response - I will be actively monitoring all presentations and can immediately stop screen sharing and/or mute a student if necessary. These expectations help create a positive and encouraging space for all learners to share their knowledge with confidence. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from SUNY Cortland
As an experienced educator with a background in early childhood and elementary education, I have spent years helping learners build confidence in their communication skills through interactive learning, literacy, and creative expression. My passion for learner-led learning drives me to create engaging opportunities where children can take ownership of their knowledge and share it with others.

I have worked with children of all ages, guiding them in public speaking, storytelling, and presentation skills in a supportive, low pressure environment. I understand the importance of making learning fun and accessible, ensuring that every student feels comfortable expressing themselves.

With a strong foundation in literacy, comprehension, and critical thinking, I help learners organize their thoughts, structure engaging lessons, and present with clarity and enthusiasm. My goal is to make this class an empowering experience where learners not only teach but also learn from one another, building confidence and communication skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom.
