Class Experience

Join us in a one time class for a lovely tea party in which your student may dress up, bring their finest tea cup, and a snack if they would like. Our class will begin with an introduction and warm-up to help engage each student. We will enjoy our tea and snacks together while listening to a story or two. Students will also be encouraged to help create stories or complete stories that we begin. Do not worry if your student is a little shy. If they are uncomfortable participating in the story-telling portion of class, I will continue reading to your student and help encourage the practice which they may initiate later from the comforts of home. This class is designed to be a fun way to listen to stories and encourage the make-believe process.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Leann Barnes. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Counseling in Mental and Behavioral Health. I have over 25 years of experience working with children and adolescents and in the majority of my professional roles, teaching of some sort played a huge role in my responsibilities. Some of the types of specialty classes that I taught were in learning self-esteem, relaxation skills, budgeting, organizational skills, time management skills, and anger management skills.

When I became a mother, I soon after began the journey of homeschooling my own and I did so with all three for 7 years. And, for the past 2.5 years I have been teaching English as a second language in an online venue. I am passionate about early learning whether it be in learning letters, numbers, and colors, or phonics, early math, and story times that ignite the beginning stages of reading. I am also passionate about teaching reading skills and reading comprehension.

I believe that every child is worthy of the time it takes for them to learn. Each child is unique and learns in their own way so I try to incorporate various teaching modalities to ensure every child becomes successful and finds education exciting and fun.

When I am not teaching, you will find me spending quality time with my three kiddos. We love to take trips into the mountains when we are able and you may find us window watching for bears that venture out at night.
