The objective of these one-on-one drum lessons is to enable the student to gain a greater set of technical and musical skills on the drum set using songs by Taylor Swift, and to help the student develop a greater understanding of the role of the drum set in modern pop music. This is achieved through the repetitive practices of technique and coordination, as well as developing critical listening skills demanded of drummers. The lessons will meet the student at their skill level and assess ways in which they can grow as a drummer. Once students become familiar with their basic equipment and a good sense of proper technique, they are ready to start learning the fundamental patterns of drumming, or the simple drum rudiments. Students will learn about how to hold the drum sticks, how to hit a drum correctly and how to maintain a steady pulse. Additionally, these lessons will help students learn how to keep a basic backbeat and play the drum kit with better speed and coordination. Students will receive regular feedback about their playing from their instructor rudiments and will be provided you with a clear path toward drum mastery. No matter where youβre headed, remember to carry a pair of sticks with you. That way, you can work on beats all day long! Areas covered include playing drum beats and building on them, rudimental practice, strengthening time playing and developing oneβs musical vocabulary. Homework will include continued practice of content that was covered in the lesson.
