Hello Everyone,
I look forward to meeting you and your student in class.
I live and work in the Sacramento Valley Region of California. I’m in the heart of Gold Country. You will see that frogs, bugs, birds, fish and all manner of mammals figure prominently in the classes I teach. Years of scouting, adventure camps and school programs for advanced and reluctant learners have prepared me for online delivery of learning adventures and skills mastery.
Starting out as a Librarian and Test Evaluator with a BA in English, I have over a decade of experience in Enrichment Programs for our School District.
I began serving the Home School market by offering a Storytime and Reading Program at our local park. I used Farm Animals and found them to be a huge asset working with students. Through that I learned about some additional struggles that home school and regular day school students experienced around learning to read and basic skills like math.
Universal Design Learning is all about delivering lessons in a variety of formats. Active recreation and games are a big part of helping students stay engaged and my classes regularly include partner play, brain breaks, and rewinds.
I grew up in the Mississippi River Valley at the feet of the Cahokia Mounds World Heritage Site and that instilled in me a respect for the peoples and times that came before ours. Growing up on the banks of the Mississippi River allowed me to learn skills first hand and young. I also found arrowheads and beads in the ground from the peoples before and this developed in me not just respect but also insatiable curiosity.
Of course I have a heavy concentration of geology and archaeology courses and love all things Coyote.
I look forward to engaging as we explore and champion your learner’s individual objectives.
