Tasty Math Adventures: Cereal Sort and Solve
Let's compare and match different cereals and snacks while meeting new friends. In this class we will use our favorite snacks for math practice. Students will solve problems ,make patterns and design and accept challenges in a fun format.
US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Measure and Sort: Learners will begin arranging the grains,nuts,berries and additional items of choosing in patterns and categories and according to the class activity directions. 7-10 Minutes Fun Facts and Jokes about the topics discussed along with some investigation ideas will be presented in each session while students are sorting and as we come back together.3-5 minutes Show,Tell and Solve: student patterns and creations may be shared. Students may solve shared problem if time allows...
Students will practice categorizing and descibing and working with shapes. Students will create simple equations. Students will classify objects by size and shape. They will look more at the properties of objects such as hardness, flexibility and texture. Students will describe observations.
1/2 cup of at least one type of cereal or grain. Two or more mix-ins approximately 1/4 cup each.The more add-ins the more fun Tray or plate for sorting Small whiteboard and marker OR any paper and favorite writing or drawing instrument
