We will start the lesson off by greeting each other in Japanese using phrases such as "Konnichiwa" and "Yoroshiku". I will then teach the Japanese words for carrot, potato, onion, meat, water and rice. During the cooking session, I will encourage learners to ask questions or share facts that they have learned about Japan. I will also share stories from the time I spent as an exchange student on a rice farm in Japan. When the food has finished cooking, we will talk about Japanese table manners such as saying "Itadakimasu" before eating and not leaving chopsticks poking out of the rice.
Learning Goals
Students will gain an appreciation for the language, food and customs of Japan. They will practice correct pronunciation for important greetings and phrases.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am loud and active, so my classes are too! I love to use songs, dance, drama, games and story telling to make my classes interesting. Topics that I teach include creative storytelling, historical role-play and beginner Japanese.
Over the past decade I have worked with students from 7 to 17 in both one-on-one and group settings. The slogan on my shirt in the video below is not just a slogan. My core philosophy is to help students Celebrate Learning.
Interesting fact about me: I have been to over 20 different countries! Okay, so we only stopped in Liechtenstein for morning tea because we took the wrong exit on the highway but hey, that's Europe.
