Description
Class Experience
1. How to prepare the Jamaican inspired dishes from beginning to end, by reading and following a recipe. 2. Learn fun facts about Jamaica.
During my 22 years as an elementary school teacher, I have taught hundreds of students and always strive to make learning fun and exciting. This class is especially special to me because my husband is Jamaican and my family has traveled to this beautiful island five times. Additionally, for the past seven years, my husband and I have been the owners of a catering company that specializes in Jamaican cuisine. Jamaican food is a staple in my home, and I’m excited to share my love of this delicious food with learners!
Day 1: Main dish - Chicken Rasta Pasta 1 (16 oz.) box of penne pasta (Please boil and and drain pasta BEFORE class.) 2 teaspoons of salt (for boiling pasta) 2 cups of shredded/chopped rotisserie chicken (I suggest buying a cooked rotisserie chicken from your local deli.) vegetable oil 3 bell peppers in different colors (red, green, yellow, orange; only half of each color will be used) 1 medium onion 3 green onions garlic powder onion powder chicken bouillon powder paprika seasoned salt black pepper 16 oz. of heavy cream water 2 (8 oz). bags of shredded parmesan cheese Optional: jerk seasoning (paste) Colander Large pot Large mixing spoon Cutting board Knife Measuring cup Measuring spoons

2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please check the ingredients list carefully to ensure that your learner is not allergic to any of the ingredients. Also, safety is extremely important to me. Please ensure that you are nearby and available to help if needed, when your learner is using the knife, as well as the stove and oven.
