Description
Class Experience
Anger is a normal part of being human. Big emotions are sometimes difficult for children to handle and that's where the Anger Dragon comes in. It provides students with an opportunity to take control of their big emotions and get their needs met in a positive way. Join in as we learn strategies for handling those big emotions in positive ways such as through the use of visualization, relaxation, positiive imagery, playing games, sensory activities, listening to music and guided listening...
Students will be able to identify and use various strategies for positively handling big emotions through relaxation, breathing, visualization and changing their mindset to reflect a balanced emotional intelligence and regulation.
I am offering this class as a response to a request for more anger dragon classes. I am a licensed 7-12th grade teacher in language arts in the state of PA, however I have worked with diverse students mostly since 2011. Many of the classrooms I have worked in are emotional support-based. I have also worked in the mental health field since 2001. I am also an early intervention specialist and I have worked with diverse students and their families in learning coping skills since 2016. I have experience with anger management workshops and kids groups and love sharing this knowledge with others!
Each week students will receive a worksheet and activities they can try to practice their strategies.
Each week, the teacher will supply learners with a worksheet or Powerpoint of take home points for the strategy of the week. Learners may need common household materials to complete projects such as water, cups, measuring equipment, balloons, vinegar, baking soda, dish soap, ice and juice or soft drink for the ice pops. Costs are minimal and supply list with specific requirements will be placed in classroom forum a week prior to activity being demonstrated or completed.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learner progress is assessed through class forum participation and discussion and completion of assignments.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This class is suitable for all ages listed!
We will learn various relaxation strategies, some involve using diaphragmatic and relaxation breathing inspired strategies and activities.
