Class Experience

* I have added an additional video to this course. It is about how our behavior and words affect others. I wanted to add an update to be sure as my students needs change, I am addressing new issues that arise.

Flex class, there are no live sessions.

I teach on a patient and understanding way. All children are welcome in my classroom.

In this four-week class we will learn why talking back and using disrespectful behavior is not how we get what we want. Be learning new techniques to approach the situation, we can remain calm and use communication to find a better and less aggressive way forward.

When we donโ€™t get our way, a meltdown can occur. This can be yelling, aggressive behavior or saying things that shouldnโ€™t be said. We will talk about not only behavior but manners as well. Teaching children to treat parents and others with patience and respect is my main goal, as well as helping students gain control of how they react to situations in and out of their homes.

This class is not therapeutic in nature, it is a guide to learning how to calm ourselves and show others the kindness and respect they deserve.

Week 1: What are some of the reasons WHY we are being disrespectful and meltdowns.

Week 2: The tone of voice we use, manners, patience and thinking before we speak.

Week 3: Consequences for our behavior.

Week 4: Triggers that cause our anger, truth and respect.

The videos are shorter than a live class. Your child is welcome to pause, rewatch and take notes. Since this is not a live class with interaction, all of the information can be presented in a shorter time frame. Thus making it more informative and easier for students to sit through.

As moderator I will post videos every Monday morning and questions/thoughts usually on Wednesdays. Your learner is always welcome to comment or ask questions on the class page. If they would rather the conversation be private, they can always message me through the Outschool message button. I am always happy to help in anyway I can and encourage my students to participate as much as they feel comfortable. The videos and questions/thoughts will give the students an opportunity to connect with not only me, but other students as well.
