In this social class, we will have the opportunity to share a super cool talent that we have! Are you an amazing singer, dancer, gymnast, hoola-hooper, magician, or performer? Can you do soccer ball tricks or juggle? Can you not wait to share your special talent with the world? Then this Talent Show is the perfect class for you! I will be the host of our lovely show and we will go one at a time and share our talents with each other while learning a little bit about each participant. We will learn each other’s names, age, what country we live in, what is our talent, and how long have we been practicing this talent. This is an inclusive class so all talents are welcome, big or small! The purpose of this social class is to encourage creativity, expression, and bravery. My teaching style comes from a place of empathy and the desire to create compassionate spaces for kids to express their individuality. No prerequisites for this class required, simply come prepared with your special talent ready to share!
Learning Goals
Students will have an opportunity to share their talent with a new group of kids and develop more self confidence.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there kids and parents alike!
My name is Jenna Kaplan and I am an actor and childcare worker.
I teach acting classes that focus on the practical skills needed to feel confident on stage. I offer classes which include theatre games, warmup skills, vocal training (for text and speech) physical work with the body, and performing text and speech. I want to tailor the work to best fulfil your theatrical needs and desires! I also teach creative writing classes aimed at working your imagination muscles, getting words on the page, and building self confidence.
I also offer private one on one acting and writing classes by request. Please message me with your availability and what you wish to accomplish in these sessions and I will tailor a special class(es) just for you!
I received my BFA Specializing in Theatre Performance from Concordia University in 2018 and I have now completed my MFA in Actor Performer Training from Rose Bruford College in 2020. Alongside my theatre training, I have been passionate about continuing my work with children and teens. I worked with Koru Kids as a nanny for an amazing family, I’ve worked as a Trip Leader on Westcoast Connection, I’ve worked at various summer camps, as an assistant dance teacher at ViBE Dance Studios, and while doing my co-operative education, I was the assistant to the grade 9 Arts Westmount Drama class.
My teaching philosophy is centred around empathy and creating compassionate, creative spaces. I value young peoples individual growth and the growth of an ensemble. I strive to make sure all participants feel heard, learn, and ultimately, have fun!
I am a super creative person who has a hugely wide range of interests which include: cooking (and eating), drawing, writing poetry, singing in the car, hanging out with my cat, Beatrix.
My new working hours are Monday-Thursday. I will work weekends upon request so long as it fits in my schedule.
A few of my policies which are important to note: If a student misses a class, that class is non-refundable. If you would like to reschedule a class you missed, you will have to sign up and provide payment again. If you are signed up for an ongoing class and won’t be able to attend that week, I do not offer refunds as that spot could have gone to another student. You may watch the recording of the class to catch up on any missed work. I only offer a transfer if a student has communicated with me up until 1 hour before the class or if there was a medical emergency or weather related circumstance. If you have computer or wifi issues, please contact Outschool support for their Happiness Guarantee. If the class has started and no students arrive and I receive no message from parents/students, after 10 minutes I will be hoping off the call. These personal policies are in place because I value my students time and I want that respect to be mutual. Thank you so much for your understanding and I hope to see you in one of my classes!
