Description

Class Experience

Students often time struggle with fractions because they do not get the foundation for understanding them! 
I aim to give them the base level understanding so that they can be successful in more advanced situations!
We will begin with the breakdown of what a fraction is, and how to create one! We will look at part of a set, and part of a whole, as well as moving into decomposing and creating them, what an improper and proper fraction is, as well as mixed numbers, and the beginning of adding...

Students will learn about the basics of fractions, including; terminology such as denominator, nominator, mixed number and improper fraction; how to identify part of a whole and part of a set; how to add fractions with like denominators, and inroduction to adding fractions with unlike denominators.

Students will be given practice problems to work on independently between classes, 3-5 problems each class.

Paper, pencil, colored pencils or crayons, and two types of counting items, such as beans and cheerios.

Based on their performance in class, I will let parents know where they are struggling and succeeding.

55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
