Let's celebrate summer and learn about the seasons! Note taking is a very valuable skill. In this class, learners will practice taking notes from a paragraph about the seasons using a key word outline. Students will learn how to find the most important three words from each sentence in a paragraph. Students will be able to identify the most important words in a sentence. Students will be able to collaborate, discuss, and decide together the most important words and ideas of a paragraph. Students will be able to create an outline from a 1-paragraph source text.
I taught writing to many elementary and middle school students over my 7 years of classroom teaching, and I was trained as an instructor for Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW).
1 file available upon enrollmentA handout will be provided on the class page.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No assessment. Optional: students may use their outlines to explain the four seasons to a parent after class.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I am using the structure and style taught in the Institute for Excellence in Writing.
