In this one-time course, learners are introduced to all four wetland types, marshes swamps, bogs, and fen. Also we will cover the three criteria to identify a wetland; hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and evidence of hydrology.

In this class we will review a slide presentation of wetland types, while discussing elements and functions of each freshwater habitat (marshes, swamps, fens, bogs, and riparian zones). We will review common vegetation typically found and used to identify wetland boundaries, even in dry conditions (outside of the growing season). I received my Bachelor's Degree from the College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 1991 and have worked as a Environmental Scientist/Field Biologist for the past 30 years. In addition, I received my Master's of Science Degree in Education in 2009. I also hold permanent Public School Teacher Certificate in Biology (Grades 7-12).
