Class Experience

Turn taking, sharing, and socialization are much needed life skills. In this one time class for ages 3-6, learners will learn how to play Candyland and dive into game play as time allows. We will practice taking turn, counting and moving our game pieces, drawing cards and stating what is found on the card.

All learners will get a chance to introduce themselves, pick a game piece. Share their knowledge of the game and take turns playing.

All learners will read what is in the card, count the number of moves made and visit with each other as we play and have some fun in Candyland.

We will pass Gramma Nut, Plumpy, Queen Frostine and Mr. Mint on the way through Candyland. LET’S TAKE A TRIP!

**You don’t need to own a copy of the game yourself. We will use my board and play on another screen as a group. **

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi I’m Jennifer Burgard! I am a mother of 3; ages 20, 5 and 3 years old. I'm from Washington State. I'm so excited to meet all of you and welcome you to my classroom. I am a Certified Elementary Education teacher with a current and valid teaching certificate. I was a Special Education /Life Skills teacher for grades pre-k to 6th grade for 10 years. This included reading, writing, math, communication, social/emotional, daily life skills, etc. I have a BAE in Elementary Education with a Major in Reading and a Masters Degree in Special Education. I am very experienced with modifying and accommodating skills and curriculum to meet the students’ needs. I am also very good at motivating students to learn and getting them engaged. 1-1 and small group learning is my specialty.

I left the classroom in June 2019 and I now stay home and teach online and be MOM.

I have found I love being home with my children and being their very first teacher from a very young age as we learn through exploration and play. I believe children learn when they are having fun and are engaged. I do a lot with hands on toys, music, movement, play, etc. After being a special education teacher for 10 years I have found many creative ways to adapt learning to fit the learner and get them motivated.

I also enjoy hobbies such as crochet, scrapbooking, card making, etc. for over 18 years. I’m a teacher at heart and love to teach others to do what I love!

I can't wait to teach and have fun with your lovely learners; big or small!
