In this ongoing class, students will learn how to find common mistakes in paragraphs and in their own writing. The topics will be spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and grammar. The class will be structured as follows: Each week the teacher will introduce the topic for the day, discuss it with the students and assess their understanding. The teacher will display paragraphs that need to be edited. The students will read and find the mistakes in the paragraph and correct them interactively using Nearpod. The students will then write their own paragraphs and practice editing them. My teaching style is to integrate topics that interest students with important skills and concepts. There will be an appropriate balance of teacher to student and student to student interaction through lectures, slides, and videos depending on the needs of the students. This class will run for four weeks. The topics will be as follows: Week of Theme 1: List One Spelling Words, Capitalization, Periods, Question Marks, Singular/Plural, and Possessive Nouns Week of Theme 2: List Two Spelling Words, Commas, Exclamation Points, Quotation Marks, Coordinating Conjunctions Week of Theme 3: List Three Spelling Words, Subject-Verb Agreement Colon, Semi-Colon, Week of Theme 4: List Four Spelling Words, Past, Present, and Future tenses
