Early literacy skills will be taught using the Flordia Center for Reading Research materials, Reading A to Z and teacher created materials. The class will be structured with beginning with a share time for the first 5 minutes while students are logging on. Following the share time the new skill will be introduced. Students will then practice applying the new skill and willl be assesed at the end of class. Parents will recieve updates and progress via google classroom or class tag platform. Learners will interact with the teacher, videos, games and each other. There is no additional experience needed.
Learning Goals
Students will learn key skills to become fluent readers that understand what they read.

Hello! My name is Valerie Miller. I will be teaching foundational reading skills to help students in grades K-6 with literacy foundation, effective communication and health and fitness. I am currently the Assistant Principal at a K-6 charter school. I have held roles as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, and Title 1 Coordinator. I believe that all students can achieve when given the opportunity for additional learning and researched based materials. I am also a mother of 3 children. I enjoy being around children. I am also an active board member of Visions Summer Beauty Camp that helps enrich social skills in young ladies.
