Tagalog Time: Fun and Engaging Tagalog Learning for Ages 5-7

Welcome to Tagalog Time, a vibrant and dynamic language class designed to introduce your child to the beauty of the Tagalog language! Tailored for children aged 5-7, this program combines storytelling, interactive learning, and proven methodologies to create an exciting educational experience.

Program Highlights:

📕 Storytelling for Vocabulary Building: At Tagalog Time, storytelling is a core element. Each session features enchanting Tagalog stories that captivate young minds while introducing new vocabulary. Through these stories, children practice talking about the characters and events, enhancing their language skills and comprehension in a fun, relatable way.

🔤 Marungko Method for Reading & Writing: We utilize the Marungko Method, a phonics-based approach that makes learning to read and write in Filipino engaging and effective. Children will start with letter recognition and gradually move on to syllable formation and word reading, all while building confidence in their writing abilities.

📚 Four-Pronged Approach: Based on the innovative Four-Pronged Approach developed at the University of the Philippines, our program incorporates phonics, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and writing skills. This comprehensive method ensures a well-rounded language education, laying a strong foundation for future learning.

💬 Ample Speaking Practice: Speaking practice is a key component of Tagalog Time. Children have numerous opportunities to use their new language skills in conversation, helping them build fluency and confidence in a supportive environment.

♬ Songs and Games: To make learning even more enjoyable, each session includes catchy Tagalog songs and interactive games. These activities reinforce vocabulary, improve pronunciation, and make language learning a fun and memorable experience.

👩🏻‍🏫 Formal, Structured Classes: Our formal classes are designed to provide a structured learning experience while keeping the environment playful and engaging. Each session is carefully planned to maximize learning and ensure that children are both challenged and motivated.

Class Schedule:

- Tagalog Circle Time (5 minutes): Begin the session with a warm welcome in Tagalog, introducing basic phrases and greetings to set a positive tone for the day.

- Storytelling and Discussion (5 minutes): Dive into captivating Tagalog stories, fostering vocabulary development and comprehension. Engage in discussions about the story to practice speaking and enhance understanding.

Dear Parents,

I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the teacher for Tagalog Time! Tagalog is my first language, and I bring 30 years of experience as an educator to this program. My journey began as a Kindergarten teacher at the University of the Philippines Integrated School in Diliman, Quezon City. I hold a master’s degree in Reading Education from the University of the Philippines and a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Cincinnati.

After retiring early to care for my mother, I’m now back to doing what I love—teaching children, this time online. Watching young minds grow brings me immense joy, and I find children truly amazing. I’m excited to get to know your child and embark on this fun learning journey together!
