Kumusta! [Hello!] Learning Tagalog may be challenging, but it doesn't have to be difficult. With the right kind of tools and an enthusiasm to learn, it can be a goal that's fun to achieve. This course is designed for beginning learners with zero to a little knowledge of Tagalog. I prepare the lessons based on the understanding that students who are going to take this course know how to read and have a basic understanding of English grammar. It's the only basic requirement for this course. In this ongoing course, students will be introduced to Tagalog through vocabulary building, common phrases, fun expressions, and conversations. Students will have an opportunity to hone their ability to speak and understand this language. We will go over the basics of Tagalog reading, pronunciation and grammar. Student will use targeted vocabulary and sentences to help them construct their own sentences using the skill they will learn in this class. For this course, I prepare slides and activities to make Tagalog understandable and the classroom experience fun and relatable for everyone! I like to add spontaneity in my classes to encourage free talk. I like interactions in the classroom and strive to achieve a class that’s informative and engaging. Each class will be 30-35 minutes long and will include any or all of the following: Introduction - 3 minutes Cultural Lesson - 2 minutes Main Lesson and Practice - 20 Review and Application - 5 Question and Sharing - 5 Below is the course outline: Introduction and Greetings Week of February 5 - Greetings and Introduction Week of February 12 - Ang Alpabeto/Letters Week of February 19 - Numbers/Mga Bilang Week of February 23 - Mga Numero About Myself Week of February 26 - It's Me/Ako Week of March 5 - Mga Kulay/Family /Aking Pamilya Week of March 12 - Mga Kulay/Paaralan Daily Routine Week of March 19 - Morning and Evening/Araw at Gabi Week of March 26 - Meals Week of April 2 - Time Words Moments Week of April 9 - Days of the Week Week of April 16 - Months of the Year Week of April 23 - Weather and Seasons Likes and Dislikes Week of April 30 - Hobbies Week of May 7 - Sports Week of May 14 - Activities ‘Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.’ –Oliver Wendell Holmes Join in anytime.
