In this ongoing weekly class, students will follow along to a recipe to create a delcious meal that provides opportunities to taste new foods and make the foods that they already love. The class time is mostly spent prepare and cooking food. Whenever possible, recipes will incorporate the availablity of seasonal foods, holiday foods, celebration foods. Students will learn the basics of hand washing and sanitary practices in the kitchen. This course is designed for students who desire to learn about nutrition, cooking, kitchen equipment and opportunity to try new recipes as it pertains to their age group.
I am licensed and certified teacher in Family and Consumer Sciences (Home Economics), Business education & Instructional Specialist - Special Education. I have been trained and certified in Food and Nutrition, Food Science, Food Safety. I am a certified ServSafe Instructor with the National Restaurant Association. During my continued education with my Family and Consumer Sciences degree I have the privilege of learning about nutrition from of the best trainers and chefs.
The supply list of ingredients, tools and kitchen equipment list will be uploaded to the classroom each week. Stduents will receive a shopping list for each recipe.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please note that students will be using kitchen utensils such as knives, ovens, stove, microwaves during this class. Students will learn about appropriate use and safe operation of equipment, parents supervision and guidance is strongly encouraged. Stduents will recieve a the shopping list of ingredients needed for each recipe before each class, please be aware of any food allegens your learner may have and compare it to the ingredients in each recipe.
