This is a 3 week class about dealing with mean or bully behavior, and identifying what makes them special. It is hard for students to understand how do handle those who are mean, and to learn not to let what others say affect how they feel about themselves. We have some online books that we will share, some interactive activities online related to the books, and discussion. Each week I will provide some handouts about the topic. Lesson 1: Read the story "Brad Takes a Bite out of Meanness" We will discuss the difference between meanness and bullying. Discuss how it feels when people make fun of us or call us names. Lesson 2: Everyone is different. We will share the book "Reverie I Believe in Me. Discussion will focus on how each person is special and can have many things they are good at. We will also look at how we are connected with others and how all have feelings and needs. Lesson 3: How to we deal with those who are mean or bullies. A focus on strategies to deal with those who are not nice. Conflict resolution techniques will be discussed and practice. We will discuss how we can be a good friend, and what to look for in friends.
