Description
Class Experience
This is a 3 week class about dealing with mean or bully behavior, and identifying what makes them special. It is hard for students to understand how do handle those who are mean, and to learn not to let what others say affect how they feel about themselves. We have some online books that we will share, some interactive activities online related to the books, and discussion. Each week I will provide some handouts about the topic. Lesson 1: Read the story "Brad Takes a Bite out of Meanness"...
Students will learn how to deal with mean or bully behavior, how to see how they are special, and how not to allow what others say affect how they feel about themselves.
I have been a counselor for over 25 years, I have a Masters in Counseling. I am also endorsed and have taught elementary education and Special Education. I have written and managed over 30 504 plans each year. I have had several trainings on the topics of anger management and ADHD. I have ran small group support sessions for students at the elementary level for over 25 years on these topics and have used the materials that I will be using. I have taught conflict resolution, and I am trained in mediation techniques.
Students might practice some of the techniques discussed in class. We might have some optional videos that they can watch that relate to the class. Most of the work will be done in class.
Students might want to have their own copy of the books, but we will be reading them online.
