Class Experience

This class is for learners who want to be creative while making "no bake" [and some bake] delicious, fun-to-make desserts, sweets, treats and other surprises. No previous baking experience required. This is a hands-on baking class, loaded with good treats to bake and eat and lots of fun learning. The teacher will demonstrate different desserts and treats, using real ingredients as learners follow directions and, hands-on, make their very own treats to prepare and share. They'll learn about different ingredients, measuring terms, reading, vocabulary and a little math, too, proper hygiene and safety protocol in the kitchen as each learner builds confidence completing their desserts, baking, tasting and having FUN! Learners will meet new "baking friends," discuss each recipe, share their special touches enjoying every new project each week.

In addition to making delicious "no bake," fun-to-make and fun-to-eat desserts and treats, learners will be given a "CHALLENGE" to complete. So learners, put on your thinking caps and be ready to meet each challenge.

Periodically, we'll have a "Super Star" Sweet Tooth & Taste surprise, created by one of the learners in our club and featured as the Sweet Tooth & Taste recipe for that day/class where the learner will present their own recipe, teach the class and every learner will make the "Super Star" Sweet Tooth & Taste recipe. What fun we'll have measuring, mixing, making and meeting in this Sweet Tooth & Taste for Young Bakers Ongoing Social Baking Club.

By the end of class, learners will know how to follow recipes step-by-step, make and complete each dessert/treat. Some of the recipes may require cooling or add the final decorating touches or actual baking after the live class session. In these situations, please share/post pictures of finished projects for us to see. Recipes, including ingredients, utensils, for each date is listed in the Supply List giving ample time to purchase necessary ingredients, etc. Each week, ingredients for the project will be posted in the classroom one week prior to class.

Teacher expertise and credentials

I have experience teaching children from 4 years of age to seniors, all subjects. I've been cooking since I was a girl watching my mom cook and bake and helping her in the kitchen, learning from the best. I enjoy cooking and sharing "how to" cook, bake, and grill with family members and friends. I've been know to prepare full meals, desserts included, and deliver them to family and friends at holiday times especially [Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays] and other occasions throughout the year. I've often been asked "when are you going to start your own cooking classes?" Who better to begin with than young learners and bakers!
