Class Experience

Is your child a beginner reader or do they still need to master those important sight words? This class is for learners that are just starting to learn their sight words and also for learners that are continuing to practice their sight words.

In this one-time class learners will practice identifying and applying 5 sight words that are on the Dolch Sight Word List, through a Valentine's Day theme.

What are sight words? and why are they important?
Sight Words are common words that school expects learners to recognize instantly. Many sight words are words that are tricky to sound out and learn to read. Learning sight words helps our learners learn to read and become more fluent readers!

OUTLINE OF CLASS
-Introduction of sight words
-Practice identifying and spelling our new sight words
-Application of Sight Words through a matching game
-Listening to a read-aloud of a sight word book written by me (students will be using active listening techniques to get them to find the sight words in the story). They will also answer comprehension questions at the end of our story to evaluate their understanding.
- if time permits, learners will be given time to share

All students will be given a free copy of my sight word book to practice with after class!

Please message me if you have any questions, concerns or are interested in any other days and times for this class.

My Policies:

My Muting Policy: I try my best not to mute learners. It is my goal to have all learners unmuted at all times during class and to use classroom management techniques to provide for a quality learning experience. However, sometimes if there is a lot of background noise I will have to mute the learner to provide that quality experience that is expected.

Refund policy: I follow Outschool's refund policy. I will message parents if there is a low enrollment class (1 learner), to see if their learner will still like to come to class. In this case, if the learner does not want to be the only student I will refund the class. I always teach class even with one learner. However, I understand that some learners do not want to be the only student in class.

Teacher Cancellation: I try my very best to give at least 24 hours notice if I have to cancel class. I do not like to disappoint any learners last minute, unless there is an emergency. If it is last minute all learners will be refunded.

Technology problems: I will do my best to quickly help learners fix easy tech problems in class. However, since there are usually other learners in class I can not spend a lot of time. Please contact Outschool immediately if you are having a problem. I understand that things happen. They even happen to me at times! Outschool tech support will help you.

Late Policy: I start all of my lessons promptly at class start time. I understand things happen and all learners will always be welcomed with a smile, even if they are late. However, no refunds are given if late, and no unpaid transfers.
