Some Facts about Me:

I am a native Spanish speaker. Spanish was actually my first language as my parents were born in Cuba and didn't speak English yet around the time I was born. When I started school, I actually stopped speaking Spanish, and spoke only English. As I grew up through Elementary, Junior High, and High School, I could understand Spanish, but simply chose not to speak it.

It wasn't until I met the mother of my son, who is Colombian, who only spoke Spanish where once again I had to relearn the Spanish language, and actually sharpened the skill quite well. As we got to know one another she taught me Spanish and in turn, I taught her English. I feel immersion and having a sense of necessity, really taught me Spanish once again, and fast. After 6 months of my son's mother and I meeting, I was speaking Spanish fluently. I was conversing not only basic phrases and words, but actually complex phrases, and terminology. She was a medical student, and highly educated. With her I learned medical, science, and mathematical terminology. I speak very clearly, and have a knack for helping people pronounce words. For me, one of the hardest words to pronounce is Veterinario, which is Veterinarian in English.

I will teach your student how to use conversational Spanish, in emergency situations.

My teaching method will be by showing pictures of scenarios, sounding out in English exactly what I am going to say in Spanish, and then helping your student properly sound out, and repeat the phrase. I will ensure that your student understands what they are communicating, along with giving them the confidence to use the sentence if they want or have to one day.

Confidence is key, I know that when a person feels comfortable with what they are trying to communicate, they are more likely to verbally communicate the message in a way any Spanish speaker would understand. The message doesn't necessarily have to be structured or pronounced correctly, the message simply needs to be understood by the receiver, and that is what I will teach your student. How to communicate in a way, where the receiver will understand.

Thank you for considering my class, and I look forward to meeting your student(s).
